Linguist, Photographer, a.o.

My name is Si Kai - but you can call me Sky/Skai - and I recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Ph.D. in Linguistics. I hail from Singapore, where I attended the National University of Singapore as an undergraduate.

I am primarily interested in the syntax and semantics of natural language, as well as their interaction at the interface; my work has thus far focussed on my own native dialect of Singlish and all of its quirks and eccentricities (of which there are many), though I have also worked on Qaraqalpaq, a Turkic language spoken in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan.

Outside of linguistics, I spend my time on video games, photography, and outdoor-sy activities like kayaking and rock-climbing.
